I'm finally getting around to posting some pictures on our website. I've been a bit behind. I put some pics in Lillie Kate's photo gallery from back in April and May and also some in our family gallery from a recent

We hope everyone had a terrific Easter! Lillie Kate was very excited about it this year even though at first she really didn't understand what it was all about. Earlier in the week when asked what Easter was about she would say, "Easter is about Easter." But
by the end of the week when asked she would say "Easter is about God." So something clicked in her little mind and she understood it the best way a two-year old can. I added some pictures from the weekend to our family gallery.

I just pulled up our website yesterday and realized that it had been a month and a half since we had
last updated! Oops! January was quite a blur for us and now somehow it's already the middle of February. Brian has
started his last semester of class work and it looks like it's going to be the hardest yet. How does 700 pages worth of reading every week sound, plus
writing summaries, working full-time, co-teaching a Sunday School class, and being a hubby and daddy? I really have no idea how he manages to do it all! One thing's for sure-
we are so thankful that the end is near! As for Lillie Kate and myself, we've been staying busy. We went home to Florence last week and had a great trip. I
posted a few pictures of LK from last month and I will try to do better about keeping the site updated!

Yikes! I can't believe I've let so long go by without updating our site! We've been really busy this past month and finding time to sit down at the computer has been few and far between. Here's a quick update on what's been going on in the Trapp family since I last posted:
Lillie Kate is now potty-training with some success. All of the sudden one day she became really interested in the potty and so we went with it. She'll usually go any time we sit her on the potty but she's not quite to the point of telling us she needs to go before she actually does it.
Lillie Kate is starting to exhibit some
"terrible two's" behavior which is oh so fun. It's really mild compared to some kids but it's been a shock to us coming from our normally laid back and very
compliant child. She had to sit in "Time Out" for the first
time ever
last week. She cried the first and second time it happened, but by the fourth time she sat there and entertained herself by singing "The Wheels on the Bus". It was so hard not to laugh!
I celebrated my 30th birthday back in November. I'm not really thrilled about that, by the way, but oh well.
Brian just finished up another semester at school and he has only one semester of class work left. He can hopefully begin working on his dissertation
this summer! WOO-HOO!
In the last month with our ABF class at church, we've been involved in a guys' game night, a ladies' cookie swap, a ladies' Bible study,
a baby shower, a chili cook off, and this Saturday is our Christmas party. Whew!
We had a wonderful visit in Florence with family and friends for Thanksgiving. We really enjoyed getting to see our sweet
little nephews!
I only have a few pictures, and by few I mean five, from the past month to post. Our camera has been giving us problems lately so we didn't even get many pictures over Thanksgiving. Hopefully we can get it fixed and get back to being the shutterbugs that we are!

Since we had already done trick-or-treating at the zoo and Lillie Kate can't really eat much candy anyway, we decided that we would
dress her up and let her hand out candy to the trick-or-treaters that came to our house. She was excited the whole entire day about it and she wanted to wear her Dora princess dress that she got for her birthday. So Princess Dora she was. She did
a great job giving out the candy and she would even tell the kids "Happy Halloween". So cute! I posted pics from the night along with lots of other pictures from the past month.

Lillie Kate looks like her daddy and it seems that she's going to be tall like him, too! Today at Lillie Kate's two year old check up she measured 35 and 1/2 inches tall which is the 90th percentile for height! She's always been in the 50th percentile in height
but she's had a huge growth spurt: 4 1/4 inches in six months! Now you might be wondering why this is worthy of putting on our website, but her 5 ft. 2 1/2 in. mama is tickled pink that her little girl won't be as vertically challenged as she is! Thank you, Lord, for blessing me with a 6ft. 3in. husband!

Wow...our sweet little girl is two years old! That's really hard to believe! We had a wonderful time celebrating Lillie Kate's birthday at Chuck E. Cheese and Landon was there celebrating his birthday at the same time so it was a blast!
Lillie Kate told me that she wanted an "Elmo party with Elmo party hats" and so that's what we had. She had also told Brian and I that she wanted a "purple bicycle" for her birthday so we got her a pink and purple tricycle that she loves. There are absolutely no words to describe the sheer joy that this child
brings to our lives. What an honor and blessing it is to be her

P.S. War Eagle!!! So proud of how my boys played against Florida. What an awesome game!

To Be One With Each Other

What greater thing is
there for two human souls than to feel that they are joined together to
strengthen each other in all labor, to minister to each other in all
sorrow, to share with each other in all gladness, to be one with each
other in the silent unspoken memories?

I've finally posted pictures from our recent family vacation to the beach. Every summer all of the Trapps go to the beach together compliments of my generous mother-in-law. This year we stayed at the Caribe in Orange Beach, Alabama and we had a blast!
Lillie Kate and Landon were crazy about each other of course. Every morning when Lillie Kate woke up the first words out of her mouth were "Go see Landon?"
They were adorable together! We went to the beach twice and spent most of our time around the awesome pools at the Caribe. One even had a water slide which Lillie Kate absolutely loved! Lillie Kate and I also spent a week in Florence visiting
my family and loving on my sweet three-month-old nephew, Andrew.

It was five years ago today that Brian and I moved to Louisville. Quite honestly, this experience has been both difficult and rewarding. God has grown and stretched us in so many ways here. We definitely aren't the same two people who moved up here, and that's good. It has also been a time of realizing God's faithfulness as we've seen Him work and provide time after time. Brian and I often say that we would have laughed at someone five years ago if they told us where we would be now and all that God has done. Over and over we've seen God do "immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine."
So what's next? Well, Brian has one more year of classes left and then he can start work on his dissertation. In the meantime, he has to finish learning German and pass a German proficiency test, study for and take comps, and write the prospectus for his dissertation. We're hoping that Brian can finish his dissertation in a year and a half, leaving us with another two and a half years until we're totally done. Then, Brian would like to teach at a university and possibly pastor or do some kind of other ministry work.
Thank you so much for you
prayers and encouragement during
this journey! The support of
our family and friends has blessed
us tremendously and has helped us
keep on keeping on. We love
you!

Lillie Kate and Landon turned 20 months old yesterday. I can't believe we're only a few months away from having a two year old! Lillie Kate is so much fun and is such a joy and blessing to our lives. Her personality is really starting to emerge and it's so neat to get to see her developing into who God has created her to be, quirks and all.
I thought I'd share just a little bit about her:
LK has such a caring nature
about her. Whether it's
sharing her passy and food with
her stuffed animals or saying
"Bless you lady" to a stranger who
sneezed at Wal-mart, she's very
concerned about being kind to
others.
LK is quite the talker.
Not just that she's able to say a
lot, but she talks all day long
non-stop. She's constantly
commenting on everything and
asking "What's that right there?"
LK is obsessed with
cleanliness. Brian has
jokingly said she's going to grow
up to be one of these people who
vacuum their carpet three times a
day. She'll spot a piece of
dirt, or hair, or grass, or
whatever and then follow it with
"Momma pick it up." She also can't
stand to get dirty whether it's
from playing outside or eating.
LK loves animals, especially
birds. She loves watching
the birds in our backyard and can
already identify a cardinal, blue
jay, robin, and dove. She
also can identify a dove's call.
One day we were outside and a dove
was cooing and she looked over at
me and said, "I hear a dove
calling."
LK stills adores books.
It's early afternoon and we've
probably already read about 10-12
books today. Thank goodness
for libraries because it gets very
old reading the same books over
and over.
What a blessing to get to be this sweet girl's mommy! I've posted just a few
new pictures of our caring, talkative, clean freak, reading enthusiast, nature lover.

As of today, Brian officially finished his first year in the doctoral program at Southern Seminary. Now there's only one year of course work left and then on to his dissertation, which could take up to two years to
research and write. While that may still seem like a lot of school left, this is a big milestone for us. We finally feel like there is a light at the end of the tunnel
and are beginning to get excited about what God has in store for us next. I do have to brag on Brian for his
hard work and determination. Not only is he working full-time on his doctorate, but he also works full-time, co-teaches our Sunday School class, and still finds time to be the most amazing husband and father. God placed the desire in Brian's heart to pursue these degrees and He has also given him the drive and stamina to accomplish all he does. I can't begin

Lillie Kate and Landon will be 19 months old tomorrow. To live so far apart, those two sure do love each other. They talk about each other all the time. Landon calls her "Kates", which I think is so adorable.
Sometimes out of nowhere Lillie Kate will say something like, "Landon says a frog!" or "Landon says Appa-G!" talking about things she's heard him say. I can't wait for them to get together again soon.
I've added some new pictures of Lillie Kate and a few new videos, too. One video was taken on my phone so its quality might not be

Big news in the Trapp house: Lillie Kate now weighs 20 pounds (yea!) so we can finally turn her
car seat around to face the front.
It may not be a big deal for some, but it's a huge deal for us for a couple of different reasons. First, Lillie Kate had a drop off in her
weight between 9 and 12 months and being such an extremely picky eater didn't help matters. So we've been trying to pack pounds on
her for the
past few months and it's finally paid off. She gained almost two pounds this past month alone. Second, I haven't been able to travel to Florence by
myself in a while because I've had to have someone in the back to entertain Lillie Kate since she couldn't see anyone up front. Now that she's able to face forwards
we can hook up her portable DVD player and hopefully we'll
travel with ease. I may have to listen to Elmo DVDs for five hours, but hey, it's a price I'm willing to pay!

One of my favorite entertainers
is Johnny Cash, while Lillie
Kate's favorite entertainers are
Big Bird and the rest of the
colorful thespians of Sesame
Street. Needless to say we
were thrilled to find this
video that combined them both:
Lillie Kate is 15 months old now and is absolutely so much fun! She brings so much joy to our family and I don't know how we ever existed without her. I just added some new pictures
of her to her photo gallery. While you do get a small glimpse
of who she is by looking
at the pictures, I thought I'd tell you a little more about her.
She acts a lot like her
daddy: laidback and
serious. They are also
two peas in a pod when it
comes to eating. Picky, picky.
And as I'm sure you can tell,
she looks a lot like him,
too.
She talks...a lot.
This child's vocabulary amazes
me. At 13 months, she
could already say over 80
words. She is now
starting to put words together
to make short two and
three-word sentences, like
"Night-night, baby"
and "I love Daddy."
She absolutely loves
books. There was a
period a few months ago when
the word "book" was
the first thing out of her
mouth when I picked her up
from her crib in the
mornings. So we'd
snuggle into the rocking chair
and read books to start our
day. We can now wake up
without having to read books,
but she still loves them and
will often bring me one and
say "read...lap".
She loves music just about
as much as she loves books.
She loves to dance to music,
too.
She loves all things Elmo,
which has now turned into
loving all things Sesame
Street. We watch it
everyday and she knows the
names of all the
characters. She will
often bring me the remote and
say "Elmo".
She's attached to my hair
like some kids are attached to
blankets or stuffed
animals. She rubs it on
her fingers, on her face, and
most often on her ears.
She has some dolls with long
hair that she does the same
thing with. Sounds strange, I
know.
So that's a little bit about
our sweet Lillie Kate. We
treasure each day with her and
love her dearly!

It's still up in the air in our house just exactly how
we'll "celebrate" Halloween as Lillie Kate gets older so for now we joke about it being
Reformation Day: the day when Martin Luther posted the 95 Theses to the door of Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany in

Reformation.

I would have never thought she would have walked before she crawled! I posted a lot of pictures and will try to post a couple of videos in a few days.

This may seem like a bizarre post but something really bizarre happened to me today: I realized I know the man
arrested for the murder of JonBenet Ramsey. John Karr went to UNA when I did and we had several education classes together. I worked on
a couple of assignments with him. He was pretty odd to say the least but I often talked to him and sat near him because I felt sorry for him. I guess my murderer radar
was broken! You can read about his connection to UNA here.

Lillie Kate loves to hear you sing the "e-i-e-i-o" part from "Old McDonald". She always responds with her own rendition. Watch and listen here.

I added two new videos today. One shows Lillie Kate walking and the other one shows her newest skill of clapping, as well
as a bit of walking. Enjoy!

Lillie Kate and Landon are ten months old today! This past month could be summed up as the month of mobility for Lillie Kate. While she is
still the master of the army crawl, she has learned to pull up by herself, stand up in her crib, stand alone without anyone holding her, walk while
holding onto things (i.e. the coffee table, couch) and has even starting trying to walk on her own. She has taken up to 7 steps all by herself!
So as you can imagine, she is busy exploring every nook and cranny of our house, and I'm busy just trying to keep up with her! I posted new pictures and I added
a new video, too.

We just got back from a wonderful time of vacation and visiting with family. It was Lillie Kate's first trip to the beach and she loved it!
She also had a blast playing with her cousin, Landon. Boy, what a pair those two make! You'll find lots of pictures from the trip in our gallery.

Our sweet Lillie Kate and Landon turn nine months old today! They are growing and learning so fast! Lillie Kate now knows how to feed
herself and wave bye-bye. She also has a few words that she knows and understands: bite, drink, light, pat, bye-bye, baby, Mommy, Daddy, Gracie, and Binky. She really
studies your mouth when you talk and is often trying to repeat the sounds she hears. She still hasn't officially "crawled" yet, but she she'll burn up the floor with an army crawl/roll!
I added a few new pictures to her photo gallery.

This weekend Lillie Kate went to a neighbor's birthday party and experienced her first pony ride. She took it all in very seriously with her trademark furrowed brow.
I posted a short video clip on her page.
